We wanted to highlight the huge community efforts being made by people to help the vulnerable and those in need in Taunton, which is an area we often work in.
Here at Children in the Middle® we know these are difficult times. We also know that times like these bring out the best in people.
In Taunton, more than 9,000 people have joined a Facebook group volunteering to help others within the town. The group – Coronavirus Community Help Taunton – helps deliver medications, food to the isolated and even walking people’s dogs if they are unable to leave the house.
This comes on top of praise from Avon & Somerset police to the people of Taunton for their compliance with the new restrictions on social distancing and only leaving the house for essential journeys or exercise once a day. The only problem was a duck waddling down the high street!
So, good work the people of Taunton!
