If you are involved about in court proceedings about your child or children, you may have a received a section 7 report.
These reports are usually prepared by Cafcass or social services.
A question we are often asked is once I receive the report, what happens next?
The usual process of the court is that once you and the other parent receive the section 7 report, you have to write a position statement setting out your response.
The court will also arrange a short negotiation hearing called a Directions Resolution Appointment. The purpose of this hearing is to find out whether the parents can agree a way forward based on the recommendations in the report. If the parents can, this is recorded as an agreement in the court order.
If the parents cannot reach a final agreement, the court will list a final hearing to decide what the final order should be.
