During these troubling times, we are trying to highlight the great work being in the communities in which we work. This week we’re focusing on Exeter.
Along with many volunteering groups springing up to help the vulnerable during this crisis, the local organisations have also been doing their bit.
Exeter College has opened its accommodation at Clock Tower to house NHS workers. The students have returned home and after a deep clean the accommodation is now available to workers in the NHS in need of somewhere to stay.
Devon County Council is also doing its best to rally local people. The council has a greater demand for healthcare assistants in residential homes, people’s own homes and hospitals. So far, nearly 600 people have signed up to become a healthcare assistant for the council.
The first group of recruits have already finished their three-day fast track training course.
So, a couple of good news stories during what are very difficult times for many. Well done the people of Exeter & Devon!
Taunton is another area we cover, and you can find out all about the great work the communities are doing here.
