The Office for National Statistics has recently published data to show that divorces of heterosexual couples rose by 18.4% between 2018 and 2019.
That increase is without the impact of Covid-19 on marriages this year.
Citizens’ Advice has reported that divorce guidance searches on its website rose significantly in April and September 2020. It is likely we will see an increase in separating and divorcing couples this year.
So, what does this mean for the children of those couples
It goes without saying that the impact of a separation on the children of those couples should not be underestimated. But if the parents make sensible co-parenting decisions in the early stages of their separation, it can be handled in a way which minimises the impact on the children.
At Children in the Middle we offer sensible child focused advice about the care of your children. We recommend having an appointment with us in the early stages of any disagreement. We can then try and guide you to a resolution, hopefully without the need for court proceedings.
If you would like an appointment, please get in touch with us via office@childreninthemiddle.co.uk or by calling 0117 214 1797.
