The impact of COVID-19 is being felt far and wide. Unfortunately, not just by those who have fallen ill with the virus.
In April the relationship counselling organisation Relate undertook a survey of couples during the lockdown.
They found that during the lockdown more than one in eight people surveyed, who were living with their partner, were having doubts about their relationship.
Almost a quarter of parents surveyed who were living with their children, reported that their children’s behaviour was becoming an issue since having to stay at home.
We are now emerging from lockdown and the COVID-19 restrictions are being relaxed. However, Relate is anticipating a surge in enquiries from couples who are separating or who are considering separation.
This will inevitably have an effect on the children of those couples. More parents will need help with making the arrangements for their children’s care after separation.
Relate is urging people to consider remote or telephone counselling before a crisis hits their relationship. You can contact Relate at www.relate.org.uk.
