If you are involved in court proceedings, there are lots or words and terms which will be new to you. The Judge, barristers, solicitors and Cafcass officers will all use these words and terms very easily, but you may be wondering what they mean.
One of these terms is a section 7 report.
A section 7 report is a report about your children’s welfare prepared for the court by either a social worker from the local Council or by Cafcass.
The type of issues a section 7 report can cover include where the children shall live, when or whether the children shall spend time with a parent and whether a parent’s time with the children is supervised or supported.
The report will contain recommendations for how to resolve these issues.
The length of time it takes for a section 7 report to be prepared will depend on the waiting times in the area where the social worker or Cafcass officer is based. Usually the waiting time is at least fourteen weeks.
