What is a section 91 (14) order?

If you are involved in court proceedings about your children there is lots of legal jargon which the Judge and professionals involved in your case will use.

One of these may be ‘a section 91 (14) order’.

So, what is this?

Section 91 (14) refers to that section of the Children Act 1989.

It is an order preventing a party or more than one party from making any more applications about the child/children without leave (permission) of the court.

These orders are made as part of a final order in a case. They can be made against one or more parties to the case.

The order will state for how long it will be in force.

If a section 91 (14) order is made against you and you wish to make another application to the court about the same child/ children, you can make the application. Before it is issued by the court it will first be passed to a Judge to give their permission or not as to whether it will be allowed to go ahead.

This order is not common. The case law which deals with whether it should be made is complex.
